    Dr. Elliot A. Heller received his BA from the University of Pennsylvania and his Medical Degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He completed his Medical Internship, Medical Residency and Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Mount Sinai Hospital, NYC. In addition to treating patients with all aspects of gastrointestinal and liver problems, Dr. Heller has a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and recently served as Chairman of the Chapter Medical Advisory Committee of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Fairfield and Westchester, which includes our Rockland satellite that he co-founded.     Dr. Andrew M. Goldenberg received his BA from Vanderbilt University and his Medical Degree from Boston University, Boston, MA graduating magna cum laude and with honors (AOA) respectively.   • Dr. Vipul H. Shah

    Dr. Vipul H. Shah received his Bachelor's Degree from Rutgers College and his Medical Degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (formerly Rutgers Medical College). He completed his Internship and Residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, where he remained to do a Fellowship in Gastroenterology. Dr. Shah received advanced training in Endoscopic Ultrasonography, ERCP and therapeutic endoscopy while at Columbia. He currently performs these procedures at Good Samaritan and Nyack Hospitals. Dr Shah enjoys all aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology but in particular has interests in pancreatic/biliary disorders and therapeutic endoscopy. He has built up a referral practice for such complex cases, with patients coming from the Hudson valley and beyond. However, no matter how complex or simple a patient’s situation, he believes that an open and respectful relationship is key for their prompt return to good health.     Dr. Yaron D. Langman received his Bachelor’s Degree from Rutgers University and his Medical Degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed training in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center and then served as Chief Resident. He completed training in gastroenterology at Montefiore during which time he received training in advanced endoscopic techniques such as endoscopic ultrasound and biliary endoscopy (ERCP). Dr. Langman enjoys treating a diverse range of GI diseases including liver disease, acid reflux, inflammatory bowel disease and pancreatic disease. He strongly believes in a patient-centered approach to healing, and finds that both he and patients have better results with a collaborative approach to treatment. He practices at the forefront of innovation and has been among the first local providers to begin treating refractory or recurrent C. difficile infections with fecal microbiota transplantation.     Dr. Richard M. Moccia received his BS from Manhattan College and his Medical Degree from Dartmouth Medical School, Hanover, NH. He completed his Medical Internship and Medical Residency at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center, NYC, where he was Chief Medical Resident in 1981. He completed his Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital. Dr. Moccia has championed the initiative of ensuring that the uninsured and working poor in the county have access to a screening colonoscopy. Dr Moccia believes that the patient–doctor relationship must be built on mutual trust and include clear information for his patients, mutually agreed-upon goals, active participation by the patient and his/her family, supplemented with heavy doses of empathy, warmth and encouragement.   • Ms. Deborha Caputo

    Ms. Deborha Caputo received her Associates Degree from Rockland Community College in Nursing, her Bachelors Degree from College of Mount St. Vincent and her Masters Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Pace University. While Ms. Caputo sees patients in collaboration with all the physicians at DDAR for a variety of gastroenterology issues, she has a special interest in treating Hepatitis C. Through starting a support group for this patient population over 15 years ago when HCV treatment was still in its infancy, Ms. Caputo has been offered many challenges and rewards. She has also been an attendee of the annual Liver Meeting for the past 13 years, and feels fortunate to work with a group of physicians at DDAR who support her interest in continuing education. A large part of her role involves patient education, as a well-informed patient makes the best choices regarding healthcare.     Dr. Ciril Christian Rizk received his Medical Degree from Brussels Free University in Belgium and completed his Residency and Fellowship in Pathology at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center and NYU Medical Center in New York City respectively. Dr. Rizk is a Board Certified pathologist with over 25 years of experience in Surgical Pathology with specialty training and expertise in Gastrointestinal Pathology. He Rizk has been an attending pathologist at NYU Medical Center-Tisch Hospital and former Director of the Pathology Department at Cabrini Medical Center. Dr. Rizk is an advocate of the in-house pathology laboratory because it allows for curbside consultations between the gastroenterologist and pathologist, thereby promoting a higher level of quality and service to our patients.     Dr. Ruliang Xu graduated from Zhejiang Medical University (Medical Degree)and Hahnemann University /Medical Colleague of Pennsylvania (Ph.D). He received his Pathology Residency Training at New York University Medical Center and Fellowship Training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital–Harvard Medical School. Dr. Xu has more than 15 years of experience in pathology with expertise in gastrointestinal and liver pathology. He is well recognized in those fields. While he serves as a community pathologist in Rockland County, he also directs gastrointestinal pathology service in a major New York medical institution.

  • Jennifer Poterbin

    Ms. Jennifer Poterbin is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner. Jennifer joined our practice on September 4, 2019 and bring with her a wealth of professional experience and expertise. Over the past five (5) years, she has worked as a nurse practitioner at White Plains Hospital. Most recently with the inpatient surgical oncology service; where she worked with an interdisciplinary team of caregivers to provide care to patients' undergoing a variety of general, colorectal, bariatric, breast and vascular surgical cases. Prior to working with the inpatient surgical oncology team, Jennifer worked as a nurse practitioner with the outpatient surgical program. She bring with her extensive experience managing patients with a variety of gastrointestinal conditions including small bowel obstructions, acute diverticulitis, cholecystitis, appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disorders, pancreatitis, colon cancer, gastrointestinal cancers and bleeds. Before completing her Masters of Science Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Dominican College, she worked as a register nurse in a variety of positions: Staff Nurse, Nurse Case Manager, Nurse Case Coordinator and Nursing Supervisor. Jennifer works hand-in-hand with our physicians to manage patients' care and treatment. Jennifer and her husband are raising their family in Rockland County; where they have resided for over twenty years.
